As suggested by its name, the Cinemed film festival focuses on the cinema of the Mediterranean basin but also presents films from Portugal, Armenia and countries surrounding the Black Sea. As usual, this 39th edition comprises a long feature, short film and documentary competition as well as the screening of more than 100 films that will be release in the last quarter of 2017 and during the first few months of 2018. It also includes a focus on the new Algerian cinema, homage to Italian filmmakers Alberto Lattuada, Spanish filmmaker Fernando Treuba, French filmmakers Manuel Pradal, Dominique Cabrera, Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, Algerian filmmaker Merzak Allouache, a selection of rare short films from the collection of the Cinémathèque Française and a horror movie night as well as a selection of documentary and short films shot in the Languedoc-Roussillon region during 2017.
Screenings take place at the Corum-Palais des Congrès, at the Centre Rabelais and at the Diagonal, Utopia and Nestor Burma movie theatres.
