Aix's Festival of Lyric Art

AIX-EN-PROVENCE.
One of the cultural highlights of the year in Provence, Aix-en-Provence's Festival of Lyric Art matches up with those of Glyndebourne, Salzburg and Bayreuth. Richard Strauss’ works “Ariane à Naxos” opens the 2018 edition that also features Prokofiev’s opera “L’Ange de Feu”, Mozart’s opera “La Flûte Enchantée”, Henry Purcell’s’s opera “Didon et Enée” as well as two recently created operas, “Seven Stones”, by Ondrej Adamaek and “Orfeo & Majnun by Moneim Adwan, Howard Moody and Dick van der Harst. Several concerts are also on the agenda.
Operas, classical music concerts and other performances take place on several sites, including the Courtyard of the Archbishop’s Palace, the Théâtre de l’Archevêché, Grand Théâtre de Provence, Théâtre du Jeu de Paume and Hôtel Maynier d'Oppède.
