Avignon Theatre Festival

AVIGNON.
Founded by Jean Vilar in 1947, the Festival d’Avignon is one of the oldest and most famous theatre festivals in the world and focuses on contemporary European creations. It presents over 40 performances in twenty different venues ranging from small chapels to the famous honour courtyard at the Palace of the Popes. 

Highlights include “Thyeste” by Sénèque, directed by Thomas Jolly, “Iphigénie” by Racine, directed by Chloé Dalbert, “Retour” by Amir Reza Koohestani, “Mama” by Ahmed El Attar, « Tartufias » by Molière directed by Oskaras Korsunovas, « De Dingen die Voorbjgann» by Ivo van Hove and « Kreatur » by Sacha Waltz.
