Featuring more than 70 works, this retrospective traces back the whole career of Domenikos Theotokopoulos, better known as El Greco, from his beginnings in Crete to the peak of his fame in Toledo. Highlighting the evolution of his style during his stay in Venice and Rome, then in Spain, it presents large size religious scenes and portraits that made him famous but also small size canvases from his debut including little-known icons as well as very rare genre paintings he produced later in his life.
