A superb lodge located in a private 100 ha property comprising a 35 ha lake where only you can access. What better way to spend holidays away from the crowd and any health risks.
This haven of peace is the gîte of the Chambly Lake, 25 km from Lons-le-Saunier. With a surface area of 150 sqm, it can accommodate nine people in five comfortable modern style bedrooms and boasts a fully equipped kitchen, two large bathrooms and a large cosy living room with a Swedish stove.

 Abundant wildlife
Not to mention a terrace where weather permitting you can take your meals while enjoying a panoramic view of the lake. Formed by glacier activity, it is nestled in a blind valley whose sides are covered with a forest made up of oaks and other deciduous trees changing colour through the seasons. An enchanting setting that you never get tired of looking at it. Especially in the morning, when mist dissipates little by little to reveal the surface of the lake, only disturbed by fishes coming to gobble up insects or by waterfowl and waders frolicking. Ducks, grebes, coots, white egrets and herons indeed inhabit wetlands and reed beds lining its shore.

 Water activities
Then, to spend the day, you have the choice between sunbathing on a pontoon, diving and swimming in the lake whose depth averages 10 m, hiking on its banks, on a path that goes around it, or strolling on its waters on an electric boat at your disposal. As to the fishing enthusiasts they have a wonderful playground to practice their favourite hobby. Zander, perch, whitefish, roach, bleak, tench, carp thrive in the lake and it is not uncommon to catch pike over 1 m long. There are even trout as the lake is crossed by a 1st category stream, hence the necessity to hold a fishing license. No doubt you will catch enough to cook delicious meals that you can supplement with local products purchased in Doucier, the neighbouring village. Particularly at the Fruitière du Hérisson – fruitière being the name given to cheese factory in Jura - that produces various cheeses such as Comté and Morbier.

 Close from tourist attractions
But, if you don't want to bother cooking, there are some excellent restaurants in the surroundings such as Le Comtois in Doucier and the Auberge de la Poutre in Bonlieu. And if you feel like leaving your lovely nest to discover the region you will not be disappointed because it has plenty to offer. Close to the gîte you will find one of the most beautiful natural sites in Franche-Comté, the Hérisson waterfalls, a series of seven waterfalls coming one after another for four km. Less than twenty km away, the blind valley of Baume-les-Messieurs charms visitors with a spectacular scenery, a vast cave from where a subterranean river gushes out and a tiny village nestled around a Benedictine abbey. Besides, if you drive a few more kilometres, you will reach Château-Chalon, a picturesque village perched at the top of a hillock whose sides are covered with vineyards producing renowned wines.
