Like every year in July and August, Chenonceau castle opens its doors at night allowing visitors to discover its illuminated gardens accompanied by the Baroque music of Italian composer Arcangelo Corelli. An enchanting night stroll.
On July 21st, the castle will also host an exceptional wine tasting of the Touraine Chenonceaux AOC included in the regular entrance fee. Installed in the gallery spanning over the river Cher and in the courtyard facing the castle entrance, about twenty winemakers of this appellation will offer visitors the opportunity to taste their 100% Sauvignon Blanc whites and their red blends of Cabernet Franc and Côt, the local name for Malbec. The Orangerie of the castle will also host a gastronomic dinner accompanied by finest Chenonceaux wines

 Winery visit
In addition, a few amateur astronomers will invite tourists to watch the stars through their telescopes and will give them information about what they will see.
Born in 2011, the Touraine Chenonceaux AOC stretches about 35 kilometres along the Cher Valley, between Bléré and Saint-Aignan. Its 36 ha of vineyards are planted on plots that are steeper, more stony and climatically more influenced by the river Cher than those of the Touraine AOC. Hence wines with a different typicity.
The village of Bourré, near Montrichard, is a good place to have a glimpse of this young appellation. There are beautiful vineyards overlooking the valley and a very interesting winery, the Domaine des Tabourelles. Producing fine wines, it also offers a guided tour through underground tunnels created through centuries of quarrying limestone and later used as wine cellar. Named Troglo Degusto, it lasts two hours and ends with a tasting of five different wines accompanied by local food specialties.
